1)      Noun clause sebagai subjek kalimat

Contoh :

2)      Noun clause sebagai objek verba transitif

Contoh :

Ø  He said that his son would study in America serikat

Ø  I know what you mean

Verba yang dapat diikuti noun clause dalam that-caluse antara lain : admit, realize, annonce, recommend, believe, remember, except, say, see, find, forget, hear, inform, know, think, promise, understand, reveal, wish, propose.

3)      Noun clause sebagai objek preposisi

Contoh :

Ø  Please listen to what your teacher is saying

Ø  Be careful of what you’re doing

4)      Noun clause sebagai pelengkap

Contoh :

Ø  That is what I want

Ø  That is what you need

5)      Noun clause sebagai noun in apposition

Contoh :

Ø  The idea that people can live without oxygen is unreasonable
